Geico Auto Insurance Review

I have been insuring my car with Geico since 2005, and I can say that I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of the company’s services. Before I switched to Geico, I was with another company who quoted me an astronomical rate when I purchased a new car and attempted to change the policy. I decided to call Geico for a quote even though they had quoted me higher rates when I had tried them in the past. This time, Geico’s rates were much lower than my company had quoted, so I immedietly switched to Geico.

That was almost three years ago and I have been consistently happy with Geico. I have never had a claim so I really don’t know how good they are with policies and procedures involving claims, but I can attest to the fact that Geico makes auto insurance easy. Everything involving your policy can be done online, including billing and payments. I don’t believe that I have ever even spoken to anyone over the phone–I have never needed to. I recently bought a new car and I changed my policy completely online without any hassle.

In addition to all of this, Geico offers customers different payment options, and unlike other companies out there, they don’t cancel your policy at midnight the night the payment is due–they actually give you a grace period.

Overall, Geico is a great insurance company that lives up to its TV ads. I highly recommend them for your insurance needs.

Help You To Find Affordable Auto insurance

Auto insurance is something everyone is supposed to have. In fact, without insurance people are breaking the law if they drive without it. For some younger families, finding affordable auto insurance is hard. For those people who are retired and are living on a fixed income, money is already tight.

It can sometimes put people in such a situation that they might not be able to pay some of their bills or even medicines that they should be taking. Finding affordable car insurance should be high on the to do list. For some it is critically important.

One way to find affordable auto insurance is to first call the company that people presently have. A situation in the home or with kids moving out should be brought to their attention. Many times, just letting the company know about a new situation might drop the rate a lot. If a person isn’t happy with the new quote from their current insurance, start calling around for quotes.

Affordable car insurance may take a little time to find, but with the effort and time, it will be found. Understand that the companies are not sitting around waiting to call people to lower rates. With persistence however, people can make changes that the insurance company wants to see and they will then lower ones rates.

Finding affordable auto insurance can be a challenge. Sometimes you feel that there are as many rates as people and you may wonder if you truly have found the best rate available. Several car insurance companies today offer quick online auto insurance quotes. Some of the larger, more well known companies are Geico and Progressive.

The cost of car insurance will depend on many factors. One factor includes where you live. In some areas the cost of auto insurance will be higher due to increased automobile theft, of a higher rate of traffic accidents. Another factor that will affect the cost of car insurance is your age. Young drivers generally have a higher cost for auto insurance than older drivers who have more driving experience.

What kind of car you drive also affects the cost of your car insurance. A bright red rare sports car may very well cost more to insure than the standard family mini van. Those who set the insurance rates may decide that the sports car is more likely to be stolen or in an accident than the mini van.

Your gender, marital status, grades (if you are a student) all affect the cost of auto insurance. Young men are statistically in more accidents than women and so they pay a higher price for car insurance. Married people statistically have fewer accidents and tend to pay less than their single counterparts. Young teenagers who have good grades are considered a better risk as well. Perhaps the adjusters feel that good grades mean more time studying and less time driving.

Your driving record will also determine the cost of your auto insurance as well as your ability to get car insurance. Good drivers with clean driving records will pay less than people with many speeding and other driving offenses on their records.

Many of these items, you cannot quickly change to make an impact on the cost of auto insurance. However, you can change the cost of your car insurance premium by adjusting the liability limits and deductibles on your insurance plan. A $500 deductible will cost less than a $100 deductible.

Some states have minimum amounts of auto insurance that you are required to have on your car. Your insurance agent should be able to help you decide which insurance plan is right for you. The online quotes are great, but if you have some unique needs for your car insurance, you may need to speak with an agent directly.

California Laws to Help You Save on Car Insurance

When it comes to saving money on car insurance, there are some obvious things that will help you out. As I’m sure you heard before, it always makes sense to get more than one quote. That way you can compare the rates from different companies and save. But there is a lot more that will help besides just comparing rates.

Did you know that California has set up laws for auto insurers? These laws are meant to protect drivers from fraud and abuse by insurance companies. The state of California is one of the best states when it comes to protecting its drivers from fraud and abuse from insurance companies.

One recent law to help consumers save is Proposition 103. Proposition 103 was passed in 1988 to change that, but went into affect July 14, 2008. The law states that that auto insurance companies must provide you quotes based on your driving record, not your zip code. Previously, drivers paid their premiums based on their location. So you could have been a better driver (and lower risk) than someone a mile away, but you would have had to pay a higher premium based on your zip code.

Another law meant to protect drivers in the state of California is Assembly Bill 2677. This law was passed in 2005 and says that auto insurance companies in California must provide drivers with the lowest rate available to them. If they do not show you your lowest possible rate, they are violating the law. Be sure to always ask to see the lowest rate available to you.

California has also regulated the rates that insurers can charge to drivers. Recently California mandated that Allstate must lower its insurance rates by 15.9%. Allstate covers roughly 10% of all California drivers, so the mandate was a huge win in helping California drivers save even more on car insurance.

Another benefit to California drivers in need of cheap auto insurance is the California Low Cost Auto insurance program (CLCA). This program is a minimum coverage insurance that helps drivers in dire economic circumstances get affordable car insurance. Through the CLCA drivers can get insurance for as low as $400 a year.

The more you know about auto insurance laws in California, the more educated you will be on your rights as a consumer. Knowing your rights will help you save money. Of course, don’t forget to compare your rates.
